The dropped survivors on Botany have come a long way from those first days when they had virtually nothing. They are living very well with many comforts of home and they are at the brink of ending the Eosi domination of several species and many planets and Kris Bjornson and Zainal are at the center of things. Making a good life on Botany isn't enough for Zainal though. He intends to destroy the Eosi for enslaving his people for two thousand years and for enslaving other worlds as well. However, the final piece of the plan will only work at great sacrifice to himself. Will his plan work and, more importantly, will he survive it?

Once again I'm plunged into the fight for survival, the fight to free Earth, Botany and many other planets and how everyone works together for the greater good of the community. It's an awesome ride. All of the pieces of the puzzle come together and if they do so a little too neatly I'm not going to argue. I love this series and I love watching how everyone handles their part of the Great Plan despite overwhelming odds. A fast-flowing plot, great writing and wonderful characters keep me engaged from beginning to end. Anne McCaffrey always has so much going on and yet manages to keep the books to a reasonable length. There's just no way to summarize her stories without going on and on about everything that's happening. All I can say is this; open to the first page and hang onto your britches. It's going to be a wild ride.

I have loved this series for years and just began reading it again. I was glad to see Anne McCaffrey on eBooks, as I no longer have many paper books on hand in my little home. I love pioneer stories whether past, present or future and the stories of Kris and her Catteni mate never fail to deliver excitement, adventure and life lessons. You can't miss with an Anne McCaffrey story.
The completion of a story line that actually completed in the first book. No surprises, nothing one would expect of Anne McCaffery...just plodding to an end visible from the second page.
This whole story began as a Novella in Galaxy magazine (classic pulp) and while new there, completed as a concept in the Novella.
Everything since is an addition similar to racing slicks and a spoiler on a Fiat 500. If you enjoy classic Anne McCaffery, you will be entertained by this series but don't expect anything surprising or new. It just isn't there.
Anne McCaffrey is one of those rare authors who couldn't write a bad story if she tried. She continues that tradition with this wrap up book of the Freedom series, excerpt now I understand there is a fourth book. I can't wait to find it and see how she continues the story.
Just rediscover Anne McCaffrey after many many years. I read the Dragon Rider series as a young and was looking for something different to read and found the Freedom's Landing series. As an adult it was just as good as the Dragon Rider series. Was well written storyline was interesting and fun and I highly recommend it. Good read nice suspense I wouldn't want to living on botany myself
This review is strictly for the audio books as most people will read the books first and then buy the audio book as a supplement. I first bought the Freedom series on cassette tapes (yes, I AM that old) and just fell in love with the acting of the two performers; Susie Breck and Dick Hill. They are just absolutely stunning with their vocal talents and help bring Anne McCaffrey's stories to brilliant life. I love audio books. They help pass the time when travelling long-distance in my car, make the walk with the dog not so boring, and help me survive traffic without resorting to road-rage.

As anyone who has ever read an Ann McCaffrey story knows, she is just brilliant in bringing her fantasy worlds to life; so much so, that you have to keep reminding yourself that there are no such things as Catteni, Earth has never been attacked by aliens, and (for the Pern series) that there are NO dragons. She has a true gift with her different worlds she creates and it makes each book pure escapism.

Susie Breck and Dick Hill have truly ruined me on just one actor taking on numerous characters. They each have such distinct voices for each character, that you don't need the "Zainal said," and "Kris said," to clarify. They help bring the words they perform to vivid life and you just get lost in the story and forget you're being "read" too.

If you have any doubts about any book performed by these two actors, don't hesitate. They help the super talent author bring her stories to life.

This is another Great book by Anne McCaffrey. I've read the other reviews where people complained about the "Freedoms" books and what I've read was people whining and crying about this and that. Come on people!!! Get real!!! This is a Science Fiction book. Read it for what it is, ... not for what YOU want. If you want a long and boring book read War and Peace, or how about a psychology book on the social structure of the aborigines in the Australian outback.

Anne McCaffrey is a Great writer. She has the ability to actually take you into the stories. If you close your eyes you can easily visualize the location and characters. If the characters in her books don't act or respond the way "You" want them to then to, then write your own book. This way you can make your characters do what "You" want. Who knows, maybe you can get published and sell millions of books.

If you're going to continue to read Anne's books then read them for what they are, ... Great entertainment!, and a Great way to relax and escape for a while.
