I REALLY wanted to like this one enough to give it 4 stars, but it just came up short for me. This is a Cuttersville story. Cuttersville, if you don't know is the most haunted town in Ohio. This is the 3rd full length novel. There's also 3 short stories about the Murphy sister witches. Bree & Brady's old girlfriend, Abby make appearances in this story. Piper (our heroine) is the daughter of Danny, from "Heiress For Hire", which I remember liking a lot better then this one.

What I didn't like : Brady (our hero) comes across as kind of a douchebag in the beginning. I really didn't need the toenail contemplation sentence, it was pretty weird.
I hated that they jumped right into sex a 1/2 hour after meeting again for the first time in 12 years. It was UNPROTECTED sex!!! Brady is a man whore of the 1st caliber. Piper had no conversation with him about if he'd been tested for STDs or at LEAST USE A CONDOM!!! That's as much on her as it is on him.
The thing in the basement is never mentioned again after the 3rd chapter. I was pretty interested to know what the heck it was (or WHO the heck it was).
The end of the story seemed rushed & ended too quickly.

What I DID like : I often find it hard to articulate what I like about a book. It's so much easier to figure out what I didn't like.
I liked Piper. She's a nice person, sometimes too nice. I like that she makes mistakes, & then owns up to them. She figures out that she still has childhood abuse issues & makes plans to see a therapist.
I did like Brady. After the 4rth chapter he actually acts thoughtful in contemplating his feelings for Piper & his life in shambles.
I like that he believes that Piper can see ghosts & it doesn't freak him out too much. He likes kids & comes to appreciate his family.

So, it was a half & half novel for me. 3 stars is the best I can do

As always theses books capture me from the beginning and I don't want to stop until I know how it ends. Amazing author!
Love Erin McCarthy and all of her books
I read Heiress for Hire and Date with the Other Side years ago when they were first published and loved both of them. In fact, Erin McCarthy is pretty much an auto-buy for me, but I was especially excited to read Piper's book based on my previous enjoyment of Heiress for Hire. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to embrace Piper as much as an adult. Although her insecurities were understandable, I didn't understand how she kept volleying between being a strong, independent woman and one who wasn't aware of her worth. As for Brady, he was portrayed as selfish, and this never really changed throughout the book. Yet at the same time I felt bad for him because everyone in his family let him know he wasn't good enough for Piper. Which was probably true, and I would've liked him to try harder to be sooner in the story.
This is really good reading for a lazy day. Enough romance mixed with spirits to lend a little craziness but a good romance to touch your heart and a satisfying ending
Main characters, Piper and Brady have a history. He was her childhood crush. Now he's back in town and can't stay away from Piper.
He knows her secret about the ability of seeing ghosts so he understands her. Sweet story with lots of ghosts, some not so nice.
You can't go wrong with an Erin McCarthy book.
I love how she change the point of view. I loved seeing both sides it was so hard to put down i finished it in 2 days. Made me laugh and my heartache. I love that I got to learn more about Piper Tucker she deserved her story can't wait to read more by Erin
OMG, I just checked when I purchased SIB and it was November 10th, 2012 and it has taken me until today March 24th, 2014 to finish it, reading a few pages at a time in between hundreds of other books....I SEE BUT I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE that EM DIDNT DEVELOP the STORY or DEVELOP the CHARACTERS. There was NONE of the warmth, love and laughter that I come to expect from every EM book. EM, your Editors let you down on this one.

Having written the above, I would like to say AN ABSOLUTE HUGE THANK YOU TO Erin who is one on my most cherished authors and have purchased 48 of your wonderful books and been transported IN AND OUT of a few different worlds while reading them. I have laughed and cried, lost sleep, given up social events, and suffered through work until I could pick up the book I was reading again...and again...and again...

I have been re-purchasing my most treasured paper books on - so I'm thrilled that the Fast Track Series has finally been released to us in Australia.....the Vegas Vampire series are another favourite that warms my heart and brings a smile to my face at the thought of reading them again.
